Once again, the El Monte Union High School District’s (EMUHSD) many talented art students had a very successful showing of their skills at this year's Los Angeles County Fair's America's Kids Art Competition. EMUHSD students captured over 325 awards, including many first place recognitions, in the arts division and the crafts and ceramics division. According to EMUHSD superintendent Nick Salerno, the coordinator of the art show display for the fair stated that she receives ”the most art entries from our schools and that our students receive the most awards in all of Los Angeles County.”
All winning entries were on display during the entire run of the fair this past September and the students were then honored by the district at a reception held last week at Rosemead High School.
“While our students are extremely talented in so many areas, we are proud to recognize our art students and their excellent teachers for their exceptional artistic ability and for their fine showing at this year’s L. A. County Fair,” said Salerno. “We are fortunate to have such dedicated students and staff represent our district.”
''It is an honor to work for a school district that has such great support for the arts," said El Monte High School art chair John Kovac, adding he was quite impressed with the work of all the district’s art students. “All the district’s art teachers do a fantastic job and we are all fortunate to work every day with such talented students.”
“The art reception was a wonderful event with many students, their families and community members on hand to view the many beautiful works of art," said Salerno.
