The El Monte-Rosemead Adult School Student Services Support Staff has received a "California Certificate of Student Support Accountability" based on their completion and submission of a self and
peer-reviewed Support Personnel Accountability Report Card (SPARC).
A SPARC is a "continuous improvement tool that gives a school site an opportunity to demonstrate effective communication and a commitment to getting results. Modeled after the School Accountability Report Card (SARC), the SPARC has been developed by an advisory group of Los Angeles County counselors, counselor supervisors, counselor educators and California Department of Education consultants."
A SPARC can also be a useful tool for self-evaluation of a school's student support system, promoting school programs and preparing reports for school accreditation and grants. It consists of ten required sections including principal's comments, major achievements and community partnerships.
Copies of the adult school's SPARC will be sent to the governor's office as well as local state legislators.
"Five copies of this acknowledgement letter are enclosed to facilitate the communication of your school district's accomplishment to your board of education," said Jon R. Gundry, Los Angeles County Office of Education interim superintendent. "Thank you for your support of this continuous improvement document that aligns your student support programs to the National Standards for School Counseling Programs.”
"We are just thrilled to receive this," said El Monte-Rosemead Adult School principal Sandra Stevens. "Congratulations to all for a job well done."
